Those are the first words that come to mind today we bid farewell to the actor, Leonard Nimoy who died at the age of 83 of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). His career spanned 60 years, appearing in numerous TV shows, movies, stage plays, and was an accomplished director, writer, poet and photographer. But he is best remembered and loved for is his iconic role in the classic 1960’s sci-fi TV series Star Trek as the half-human/half-Vulcan, first officer Mr. Spock.
I first saw him when I was a child watching the original Star Trek television series in syndication in the evenings and all the Star Trek movies that continued to follow the original cast on their adventures in space. He also appeared several times in Star Trek: The Next Generation and even the recent reboot movies, Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness. Thinking back I also remember him from a number of TV shows: Mission Impossible, Bonanza, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Get Smart, Dragnet, the narrator of In Search Of…, the voice of Galvatron in the original Transformers cartoon, The Big Bang Theory, and as the voice of Sentinel Prime in the movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Being the Star Trek fan I am I think the most appropriate for me to say goodbye is to salute you, Leonard Nimoy aka Mr. Spock with this:
