The latest version of Pages for iOS brings with it more templates then previous versions but nowhere near as many as Microsoft Word. On top of that the dimensions of each template can’t be changed. Leaving users either stuck with what’s provided by Apple or to manually add their own templates. Since everyone isn’t equally versed on using Pages here’s how to get alternate paper sizes uploaded to Pages with as little hassle as possible.
Using iCloud:
- Open Word and click on Page Layout, then Size.
- Choose one of the predefined sizes or simply create your own
- Save the blank template as a Word Document with the .docx format with the name of the actual paper size to a folder.
- From the browser on your computer login to iCloud. Open Pages for iCloud, right click on the “gear” symbol and then click on “Upload Document”.
- Open the saved word document in Pages then save it as a .pages file.
- Move the new document to a folder for safe keeping then you can delete the Word version and your done.
Using WebDAV:
- Open Word and click on Page Layout, then Size.
- Choose one of the predefined sizes or simply create your own.
- Save the blank template as a Word Document with the .docx format with the name of the actual paper size to the folder that’s uses your WebDAV setup.
- From your iOS device open Pages and tap the “+” symbol then “Copy from WebDAV”
- Open the saved word document in Pages then save it as a .pages file.
- Move the new document to a folder for safe keeping then you can delete the Word version and your done.
Using third party cloud services:
- Open Word and click on Page Layout, then Size.
- Choose one of the predefined sizes or simply create your own.
- Save the blank template as a Word Document with the .docx format with the name of the actual paper size to a folder.
- From your iOS device open whatever cloud service app you saved the document to. Open the saved word document and tap [Open in…]. Then select Open in Pages.
- Save it as a .pages file.
- Move the new document to a folder for safe keeping then you can delete the Word version and your done.
I have also included few other paper sizes I found useful that you can simply open from your iOS device and save to a folder in Pages.
- A5 (5.83×8.27) [landscape]
- A5 (5.83×8.27) [portrait]
- Executive (7.25×10.5) [portrait]
- Index card (3×5) [landscape]
- Index card (3×5) [portrait]
- Index card (5×8) [landscape]
- Index card (5×8) [portrait]
Thank you very much for this! I was looking for the A5 size within the app and assumed I must have been missing it. One question, when I use the A5 template in pages it tells me that something has been changed in the document as Calibri isn’t available. This happens even when I’ve got my own content in there and have selected a different font. Do you know why this keeps popping up every time I open the documents? TIA
If it’s saved with a different font then that shouldn’t happen. I will try to reproduce that since it’s never happened to me.
Hi Wyatt
We are trying to create A3 sized paper for Pages in IOS. Have you had any luck with that?
Thanks
Unfortunately, there is no direct way to do so from Pages for iOS itself, but you can create various paper sizes on a Mac or Windows computer then save it to iCloud so it uploads to your device.
Can’t thank you enough!
