I don’t often have major gripes about software updates but this one has really gotten under my skin. The iPhone OS 3.1 update was officially released on Sept.9, 2009. While it brings a handful of good features it also broke a rather important pre-existing function. Anyone who uses smart playlists in iTunes knows how great that function can be to customize playlists to your liking. Now, after installing the iPhone OS 3.1 update, this is no longer the case on the iPhone side of things. Read More »

It’s been about two weeks since I’ve had my laptop returned to me and I’m happy to say everythings working just fine. Kudos goes out to Circuit City, Fire Dog, and the Repair Center for the prompt work, taking care of my property and keeping me informed.

I still think it’s unfortunate that the repairs weren’t covered by HP. The graphics chip issue affected more than just the AMD based laptops and should have been a manufactures warranty repair. Incidents like this make the case for extended warranties. But if you’re still on the fence about spending extra money on an extended warranty here’s the rule I go by. If it costs more than $500.00 and it’s laptop size or bigger get the warranty. The worst case scenario is that you’ll never have to use it and you’re out $100.00 or $300.00 depending on the item. This is better than being out maybe $500.00 or more for parts plus labor and shipping. Better safe than sorry.

This is my personal blog about the gadgets and technology I use and love. Nothing fancy just a post here and there when an idea comes to mind. I post in my spare time so I can’t update on a regular basis but if I get requests that may change. Till then hope you find something useful in my Tech Corner.
