Thanks for the info. I bought CGM2X2GS800 and installed in my DV9260NR and the laptop blue screened and said no page and dumped memory. Cannot get it to boot and I have 64-bit Vista. Any ideas?

What you listed will either not work or may short out the mobo so don’t get it. What you need is PC2-5300 like the Corsair Value Select (VS4GSDSKIT667D2) for example if your not going for the same RAM in the article. The memory I use is compatible with PC2-4200(533Mhz), 5300(667Mhz) and 6400 (800Mhz). So if your not going to get something like that then you need exact replacement by matching the Mhz. Thanks for getting back to me on that. I just received the memory in the mail and realized NewEgg sent me the Desktop ram.

@Verlyn Severson: This is still a kind of personal blog I’m using to document things I do and find important in mobile technology so I haven’t setup any direct emailing. But all posted comments are emailed to me directly so all questions will be answered to the best of my ability, but enough of that. I see I need to do another right up of how the memory is working out but suffice it to say that I have had absolutely no problems with the Corsair memory or anything indirectly related to it. Like I state the Corsair memory will work in the dv9260us(same one I have). The face that it is compatible with PC-5300 just gives you more options of laptops it can be used in. It will not blowout your motherboard.

I wish there was a link to email you directly on this. I ordered the Corsair memory you recommended. I have the HP Pavillion DV9260US, which appears to be what you are saying you have. I checked out memory at a local Microcenter and mentioned my model laptop and they said I could blow out my motherboard if I installed PC2-6400 Ram due to being rated for PC2-5300.

I just want to make absolute sure that we are talking about the same notebook and that it’s safe to install this and that it’s still working for you. Please let me know as soon as possible and thanks.

ps do you have any issues with your laptop? my HD DVD drive wont work and videoplayback from my webcam always plays everything in fast forward. haha ughhh

awesome dude. thanks a million. how big is the speed difference from 2gb to 4gb? cuz im not very happy with my computer’s current speed. its got all these great specs but just runs slow with 2gb.

Forget what HP’s website says because it’s incorrect. After seeing other HP laptops with similar specs but with 3GB and 4GB installed I started looking into upgrading my own. No where will you find that the dv9260 is upgradeable to 4GB of RAM and I don’t know why. Upgrading is pretty simple. I’ll post more on it later but rest assured it does work.
